The Gibson Gary Moore Les Paul was built from 2000 to 2002 at Nashville, Tennessee and reflects but doesn’t copy Moore’s 1959 Burst originally used by Peter Green in Fleetwood Mac.
Taking a regular Les Paul body and neck, the Gibson Gary Moore model does away with body and neck binding, and has a wiring or magnetic configuration that mimics the ‘out of phase’ tone on Peter Green’s Burst. Green felt that the pickup had been physically reversed, but in reality one of the pickup magnets may have been reversed as a manufacturing error. In any case, this produces tones not normally available in a Les Paul. Guitar World discussed this pickup arrangement in an article in October, 2018. This model features BurstBucker pickups and was apparently the first to do so. Tuners are standard Kluson Deluxe type, with plastic keystone buttons. The neck is a fairly full 1959 profile.
Here we’re looking at a Gibson Gary Moore Les Paul Standard dating to November 4th, 2000 and built at the Nashville plant. Typically it has no binding and wears the ‘Honeyburst’ or ‘Lemonburst’ nitrocellulose lacquer finish. It is in overall good condition with a few dents and bumps and light to moderate fret wear, particularly in the lower positions. The stock frets are quite large so a simple dress and recrown will quickly restore the surfaces. It is strung with the stop tailpiece ‘top wrapped’. Instead of the strings being strung through the back edge of the tailpiece, they go through the front and then wrap over. This allows the tailpiece to move down as far as possible, while keeping a relatively shallow breakover angle at the saddle. This in turn provides a slightly looser feel to the string when it is stretched.
The original hard shell case is included with this Gary Moore Les Paul.
