As Guitar of the Week number 16 in 2007, this Gibson Les Paul Classic Custom in Silverburst is one of 400 built. The Classic Custom was offered from 2007 to 2008, and from 2011 to 2012.
Merging elements of the Les Paul Classic and Custom models, the Gibson Les Paul Classic Custom starts with a weight-relieved Mahogany body with carved Maple cap paired with a Mahogany neck and Ebony fingerboard. The body gets Custom-style multi-layer binding for the top and headstock, with single layer binding around the fingerboard. The headstock inlays include a Mother of Pearl Gibson logo with crown, while the acrylic fingerboard inlays are Standard-style trapezoids.
For hardware, tuners are Grover Roto-Matics with metal keystone buttons. The pickups are ’57 Classics, and the wiring is straight Gibson – pickup selector, individual volume and tone controls, and an output jack.
Dating to April 16 2007, this Gibson Les Paul Classic Custom is in overall good condition with minor wear. Fret wear is light. The Silverburst finish – burst on top, black on the back and neck – has mild scuffing around the Strap-Lock strap pins, but is otherwise in good clean condition. There has never been a pickguard installed, and the Rhythm / Treble switch trim ‘poker chip’ is also absent aiding a focus on the finish.
