❌SOLD❌ Gibson Les Paul Faded Burst, 2007

Built at Nashville during 2007, this Gibson Les Paul Faded Burst is nicely weight relieved and is in great condition with original case and bridge included.

The traditional Les Paul construction is used, with a figured Maple cap on a Mahogany body, with Mahogany for the body back and neck, and Indian Rosewood for the fingerboard. The major apparent differences with other Les Paul Standards of the period are the very light, satin finish and the weight – it’s up to two pounds lighter than some other Les Paul models I’ve posted recently. This weight reduction seems entirely due to the weight relief patterns underneath the Maple cap.

The faded finish is a nice touch. Gibson makes a point of using nitrocellulose lacquer for its finishes. This adds to both the cost and time of production, two reasons why most other companies moved towards synthetic, often poly, finishes.

This Gibson Les Paul Faded Burst is in very good, clean condition and plays well. It has two deviations from original – the original ABR style bridge has been replaced with a much heavier roller tune-o-matic type model, very much like this part from Stewart – McDonald. As well, the strap pins are Schaller style strap locks, and the case includes a strap with that half of the locks.

These guitars are equipped with Gibson BurstBucker Pro ‘Zebra Coil’ pickups. These are simply standard BurstBucker Pro models with no metal covers. Originally, Gibson coils were black, but periodically their plastic supplier would provide a number of creme coils. Nobody knew about this until the mid 1960’s as guitarists, seeking a bit more gain, would remove the covers, revealing the coil colours. In some cases, the coil colours would be mixed, as black / black or black / creme or ‘zebra’. However, what was never really seen was creme / creme. That led to a third party marketing opening, exploited and trademarked by diMarzio, which was affirmed in a 2021 USPTO ruling. Consequently, you will only see Gibson pickups with black / black or black / creme coils. Creme / creme will be diMarzios.

Overall, this is a very good guitar,  in great condition, a comfortable weight and good tone,  and easily restorable to its original condition.

The original black ‘Gibson USA’ hard shell case with white plush lining is included. The original bridge and replacement support studs and collars, as well as a strap with locks, are included in the case.
