Built from 1999 to 2002, the Gibson Les Paul Junior Lite sports an LP Special Double Cut style body and a pair of hum-cancelling P-100 pickups, in a Cinnamon Red finish. This is a great little rock or country guitar.

The Les Paul Special was introduced in 1955 as a single-cutaway guitar to provide a lower cost model in the Les Paul line, and it immediately took a place in the rock arsenal. In 1958, it received a major makeover with the double-cut (DC) body design, which provides unrestricted access to all the frets. However, the DC model was discontinued during 1960, in favour of the new body design that became known as the SG.

Over the years, the Double-Cut body shape has been reissued in various forms. From 1999 to 2002, Gibson produced the guitar shown here, a Special with P-100 hum-cancelling soapbar style pickups and mini trapezoidal markers, and called it the Gibson Les Paul Junior Lite.

The body and neck are Mahogany, with Indian Rosewood for the 22-fret fingerboard; the position markers are mini trapezoids in faux mother of pearl acrylic. The headstock is black, with gold screened Gibson and Les Paul Model logos.

The hardware and wiring are improvements on the originals. The tuners are Gibson Deluxe models with creme plastic buttons. A modern Nashville style bridge and stop tailpiece set are at the body. For electronics, a pair of P-100 hum cancelling pickups are installed. These are dimensionally and visually very much like the classic P-90 models, and should one desire, it’s easy to swap in a set of P-90s. Unlike the original models, individual volume and tone controls are provided.

This Gibson Les Paul Junior Lite example dates to March 15, 1999 at Gibson Nashville. It is in good, clean condition with light, honest play wear to the finish and negligible fret wear. The Cinnamon Red finish is almost opaque.

This is a really hot little guitar. It plays and looks great, it is light weight and comfortable, there is full access to all the frets, and it sounds good while not being susceptible to 60 cycle hum.

A good quality black hard shell case is included. Many of these guitars were shipped with a Gibson USA gig bag, so the hard shell case may be an after-sale upgrade.
