Gibson Les Paul Pro Deluxe Black, 1978

Brand:

Instrument Categories: , ,

The Gibson Les Paul Pro Deluxe was built from 1978 to 1982 and blended features of several previous Les Paul models.

Based on the Les Paul Deluxe, the Pro Deluxe had P-90’s in place of mini-humbuckers, a Maple neck and Ebony fingerboard with trapezoidal position markers. Like other Les Paul models of the period, the body is two pieces of Mahogany with a Maple cap. Tuners are Schaller-made Gibson branded with metal keystone buttons. A standard Nashville Tune-o-Matic bridge and stop tailpiece pair are at the body. Specific to this model, the truss rod cover reads ‘Pro’.

This Gibson Les Paul Pro Deluxe is dated to August 29, 1978 at the Gibson Nashville plant and has a gloss black finish. It is in good working order and its one major modification is the addition of a DiMarzio P90 Super Distortion in the bridge position. The finish is in overall good shape with some expected wear and oxidization. Fret wear is fairly light.

It plays well, and has a slightly slimmer, narrower neck characteristic of the period.

Sold with its original Gibson branded hard shell case.
