Here is a classic non-weight-relieved Gibson Les Paul Standard in black dress, dating to January 13, 1990 at the Gibson Nashville plant. This well proven design features a Mahogany body with a bound Maple cap, and a Mahogany neck with bound Indian Rosewood fingerboard.

The original Gibson Deluxe Kluson-style tuners on this Gibson Les Paul Standard have been replaced with a set of Grover Roto-Matics. The neck pickup trim ring has broken on the treble side of the pickup, but otherwise the hardware seems original and in good condition. As stock, the 1990 Gibson Les Paul Standard came with a 490R/498T humbucking pickup pair and amber ‘hatbox’ style control knobs. The gloss black Nitrocellulose lacquer finish is in overall good condition, with some oxidization and a few small dings and chips around the edges.   Fret wear is light to moderate,  expected for an instrument of this age.

This example plays well, and has that solidly full, rich Les Paul tone and delivery. It has a correspondingly solid feel, partly from the lack of weight relief.

The original Gibson brown hard shell case is included, and is in 6/10 condition.
