This guitar is a bit unusual – a Gibson Les Paul Traditional GoldTop with Bigsby, the Bigsby mounted at the factory using a VibraMate kit.
During 2014, Gibson offered a number of Les Paul Traditional GoldTop P90 models. A Bigsby was desired, but that normally requires drilling at least two holes in the top. However, at this time, the excellent VibraMate company had begun offering no-drill mounting kits. The Vibramate V7 LP kit allows the installation of a Bigsby B7 (the most appropriate model for this guitar) using an adapter plate that bolts to the stop tailpiece collets. No need to drill holes in the top! Additionally, the height of the adapter plate reduces the breakover angle from the top of the bridge to the bottom of the tension roller, allowing for stabler tuning and smoother arm movement.
It’s worth mentioning here another product that helps address downbearing issues with these dual-roller Bigsby models, the Bricks BiggsFix. This unit replaces the tension roller, providing significantly reduced downbearing, smoother movement and improved tuning stability.
This Gibson Les Paul Traditional GoldTop with Bigsby is in great condition with only the lightest wear – it looks almost unplayed. It does play well, and the Bigsby is well adjusted. The finish is in excellent condition.
The original hard shell case is included. Original studs and tailpiece are included if you wish to convert back to stock bridge configuration.
