(Discontinued) Godin Core CT

Instrument Categories: , ,

NOTE – This model has been discontinued and is out of stock.  We’re maintaining the post for historical purposes, but we will only see these again as used.

We’ve just received several new Godin Core CT guitars, in humbucker and P-90 versions. The CT stands for Carved Top, and these are built with a carved solid maple top on a chambered Spanish Cedar body, with a set mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard. The scale length is 24.75 inches and the nut width is 1 11/16th inches, on a 12 inch radius fingerboard.

For hardware, the Godin Core CT uses Godin sealed tuners, and a Graphtech ResoMax tunable wraparound bridge. The pickups on the humbucker model are a Godin custom at the neck and a Seymour Duncan ’59 at the bridge; on the P-90 model, both are Seymour Duncan models – a vintage SP90-1 at the neck and Custom SP90-3 at the bridge. The usual dual volume and tone wiring layout is used with a 3-way toggle switch.

These are impressive guitars. As with all Godin products, they are very well built. The chambered body makes for a very comfortable weight and adds resonance and warmth, with lots of top end bite from the carved maple top. The frets are large enough to provide lots of traction, and the fretwork is clean and precise. The finish is gloss on the top and headplate, but satin elsewhere. A gig bag is included.
