Here’s a neat pairing – a Godin XTSA solidbody electric in Cherry finish with a Roland GR-55 Guitar Synthesizer floor unit!

The Godin XTSA is a solidbody electric with a pair of humbuckers and a single coil in HSH configuration, and its hardware includes a trem bridge with L R Baggs transducer saddles leading to a 13-pin output to drive a synth unit like the Roland GR-55 included here.

While it’s still in production, at the time of construction this Godin XTSA was built with a Maple and Poplar body, paired with a Maple neck with Ebony fingerboard and 24.75 inch scale length. Modern versions use Richlite in place of Ebony and have a 25.5 inch scale. It is an extremely versatile instrument, well built and well balanced. This example is in very good, clean condition.

Here’s the builder on the Godin XTSA:

“A jack-of-all-trades and master of all of them, the Godin xtSA has incredible sound power beginning with three distinct voices: electric guitar, acoustic guitar, and synth.

The xtSA delivers big-time electric sounds via the Godin humbucker-single-humbucker pickup configuration and thanks to a special 5-way switch setup, extra meaty humbucker tones co-exist with glassy split-coil sounds in the second and forth positions. Turn down the electric output and raise the volume on the LR Baggs transducer saddles and the xtSA becomes an incredibly authentic-sounding ‘acoustic’ guitar. The acoustic voice of the xtSA is enhanced by an onboard preamp with a three-way graphic EQ. The two outputs are set up so that the electric and acoustic voices can be blended while using a single patch cord or at the amp/mixer via both outputs. Also, the xtSA’s synth tracking, which simply put, is the best in the business. As with all of Godin synth-ready instruments, a built-in 13-pin connector provides direct access to all Roland™ GR-Series synths as well as most other 13-pin devices. All of this sound power would be a lot less interesting if the guitar didn’t feel great but the xtSA sure does, thanks to the same 25½” scale and mahogany neck used on the Godin LGX-SA flagship guitar. “

The Roland GR-55 has proven itself as a solid, reliable synth unit with great sounds and easy control.

From the Roland description:

“The Roland GR-55 is a revolution in guitar synthesis, with features never before available in any guitar processor. In terms of speed, it’s the fastest ever. It’s also the most accurate, thanks to newly developed pitch-detection technology. As for sound, the triple-core generator houses a world-class array of virtual guitars, basses, amps, and synth voices, enabling tones and textures that have never been heard before. Onstage or in the studio, you can instantly access the GR-55’s huge library of ready-to-use sounds, from pop to rock and beyond, with quick-access category buttons. Welcome to a groundbreaking new era in guitar synthesis!”
