The Guild X170 Manhattan was built at the Guild plant in Westerly, Rhode Island from 1995 until 2001 when Fender relocated the shop to Tacoma, Washington. Conceived as a jazz box, where function is key but classy looks are important, the X-170 Manhattan met all its targets.

Most modern jazz guitars are built with Maple laminate bodies for feedback resistance, and the Guild X170 Manhattan is not an exception. With the Maple body, the X170 uses a three-piece Maple-Walnut-Maple neck with a bound Rosewood fingerboard. Position markers are block-style Mother of Pearl. For hardware, everything is gold plated! A set of Grover Roto-Matics are installed at the head and a Guild-logo single-roller Bigsby is at the tail with a stock Bigsby aluminum bridge.

In terms of electronics, a pair of distinctive Guild humbuckers – made for Guild by Seymour Duncan, and slightly larger than the original Guild humbuckers – pass through a pickup selector and individual volume and tone controls.

The body is fully hollow, using parallel tone bar and sound post bracing.

This Guild X170 Manhattan is in very nice, clean condition and plays really well.  Wear is very minor, and the usual first-worn spots – the bass end of the bridge and treble pickups, where one would rest on or touch the plating – don’t show much evidence of use.   Fret wear is very light and mostly limited to the first position.

The original Guild branded hard shell case is included.
