Hermann Hauser II #716 Classical Guitar, 1962

Brand:

Instrument Categories: ,

Built during 1962 in Reisbach Bavaria, this beautiful Hermann Hauser II #716 classical guitar is a wonderful instrument in good condition.

It’s hard to overstate the influence Hermann Hauser Senior and his son Hermann Hauser II had on the development of the classical guitar. Andres Segovia, Julian Bream, and many others used Hauser and Hauser II guitars extensively during their careers and these guitars can be heard on many recordings.

Following their Torres-based style that has become a benchmark for performance grade instruments, this Hermann Hauser II classical guitar pairs a European Spruce top with Brazilian Rosewood for the back, sides, bridge and head plate. Around the waist, the sides show some dark banding. This banding is from the hot pipe used to hand-bend the sides.

Most of the neck is Mahogany, while the V-jointed headstock and the body linings appear to be Spanish Cedar, Cedrela odorata. The fingerboard is Ebony, with a scale length of 647mm (25.47 inch).

The tuners are the original Landstorfer models with opaque buttons, now quite yellowed as are the rollers. Similarly yellowed, the nut and saddle appear original. There are fingerboard-edge dots for frets 3, 5, 7, 9, 12 and 16. The finish is clear nitrocellulose lacquer, lightly applied by spraying as Hauser II had ceased use of French Polish.

Signed and dated by Hermann Hauser II, the label on this 1962 model as on many other Hauser guitars has been manually altered to update the business address from Munich to Reisbach following their move – in 1946!

A modern molded hard shell case is included.
