Here we have a lovely Josh House 000 12 String, 12 Fret model built during 2023 with Bearclaw figured SitkaSpruce for the top and ‘Fallen Giant’ Mahogany for the sides, back and neck. Mahogany is also used for the body blocks and linings. The head plate, bridge and and fingerboard are African Blackwood, with Box Elder for the headstock logo and Curly Maple for binding.
Josh House studied under Serge de Jonge during 2003 and since 2001 has operated Canadian Luthier Supply, offering specialised guitar building tools and jigs.
This Josh House 000 12-String is a very well built guitar with a simple appearance and very clean built quality. On the inside of the top, to the bass side of the fingerboard tag, there’s a hand-written note “Built by Josh House” and a date that appears to read ‘Jan 2023’, the date the top was made. The label expands to indicate a completion date of July 2023.
Tuners are high quality strip-mounted open gear models with creme buttons, and a K&K Pure Mini passive pickup set is installed to the top, with an tail-block output jack. The frets are stainless steel, so they should last quite some time before requiring service. The finish is a clear nitrocellulose lacquer, likely sprayed as distinct from hand-applied french polish.
There’s vanishingly little wear on this guitar. It plays well and has a warm, evenly represented tone with its limited playing time; with use, it should really open up.
The original two-tone, arched top hard shell case is included.
