Manuel Rodriguez e Hijos Model D Rio Madagascar Spruce Top, 2007

Brand:

Instrument Categories: ,

The Manuel Rodriguez e Hijos line comes from celebrated Spanish builder Manuel Rodriguez, as affordable quality production models. These guitars, now discontinued, were built in a larger Rodriguez-owned shop in Esquivias, about 45 minutes south of Madrid. This has been the way that Madrid-based guitar builders were able to expand as several aspects of guitar construction, particularly finish application, is seriously regulated within the city.

Here we’re looking at a Manuel Rodriguez e Hijos Model D Rio Madagascar guitar with Spruce top. The sides and back are Madagascar Rosewood laminate, with solid Madagascar for the body binding, headplate and bridge. The fingerboard is Ebony with side position markers at frets three, five, seven and nine, and the body blocks and neck are Spanish Cedar (Cedrela odorata). It was built at the shop in Esquivias during 2007, based on similar serial numbers.

This example is in overall good condition with just light finish wear. As is typical of even heavily used Classical guitars, fret wear is light as the strings are not very abrasive. It plays well, and has a warm, rich tone.

The original hard shell case is included.
