NOTE: We are out of stock for this model. It is still in Martin’s production list, and available on order.
The new Martin CEO-7 steel string guitar is based on guitars from the late 1920s and early 1930s, often called the ‘Golden Era’. These instruments are smaller, 00 size, with shorter scale lengths.
Built with a slope-shouldered 00-size body, the Martin CEO-7 features an Adirondack spruce top, mahogany back, sides and neck, with ebony for the unbound 14-fret fingerboard and bridge. The tuners are Golden Age relics with creme plastic buttons. The nut width is 1.75 inches, the scale length is near-Gibson at 24.9 inches, and the fingerboard radius is 16 inches. The pickguard is faux tortoise, and in the photo here is covered by the factory plastic (which I didn’t want to remove as it’s a new guitar).
These are very comfortable guitars to play. The smaller body size and scale length fit easily and help with good left wrist position. The tone is full and rich but balanced without the boominess sometimes found from larger bodies, and the mahogany body adds snap and sparkle.
A Geib style case is included.
