New for 2013, Martin Guitars has gone into the vault and with the help of the Smithsonian Institute’s highly advanced CAT scan machines they have recreated vintage Martin’s from 1931,1933,1939 and 1941.

The high resolution images provided allowed Martin’s design team to see the past in incredible detail and recreate numerous hidden features and subtle nuances from Martin’s “golden era.”

All the details have been taken into consideration from minute differences in bridge plate thicknesses to unique bracing pattern subtleties and the delicate hide glued cloth side reinforcement strips. The handwork, finesse and incredible attention to detail required for these instruments has helped to create the most authentic “New Old” Martins ever!

This guitar is based on a 1933 OM-18 on loan from Fred Oster of Vintage Instruments and features a mahogany back and sides and an Adirondack spruce top using an authentic circa 1933 bracing pattern. This beautiful instrument has all the period-correct “OM-18” Authentic-style appointments, right down to the Authentic 1933 neck barrel and heel!
