❌SOLD❌ McInturff Polaris Pro Trans Blue, 2000

Instrument Categories: , , ,

It’s rare to see one of these available for sale – a Terry McInturff Taurus in Translucent Blue finish on an AA Quilted Maple top. Based on the serial number, this guitar entered the finish booth during September 2000.

The McInturff Polaris Pro is a double-cutaway solidbody electric using the proven formula of a Maple cap on a Mahogany body, with Mahogany for the neck and Indian Rosewood for the unbound fingerboard. On the Polaris, the Maple cap is highly figured, AA Quilted Maple. The position markers are Mother of Pearl dots.

For hardware, a set of Grover Roto-Matics are at the head with a Tune-o-Matic bridge and stop tailpiece at the body. A pair of DiMarzio-made custom Zodiac humbucking pickups feed through a standard 3-position pickup selector and master volume and tone controls. The top finish is a nicely done Translucent Blue, with hints of both grey and green, really setting off the Quilt figuring of the Maple cap. The back and neck finish is a more opaque blue / green, with the green more prominent on the neck.

This fine McInturff Polaris Pro is in good overall condition with light play wear. It plays quite well. The relatively unusual 25.11 inch scale length is quite comfortable, a nice balance between the spacing and tension of both Fender and Gibson standard scale lengths.

Terry C McInturff custom builds in a small shop in Siler City, North Carolina USA, southeast of Greensboro. In 1977, he attended the Roberto-Venn lutherie school with the intention of creating a guitar that would satisfy both Strat and Les Paul players. Most of his work is custom ordered, with clients including Eric Clapton, Joe Bonomassa, Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck. As each guitar is hand built by McInturff personally, the number of guitars built per year is fairly low and used models are hard to find.

This McInturff Polaris Pro is sold with its original hard shell case.
