National Delphi with Slimline Pickup Antique Brass, 2006

Brand:

Instrument Categories: , ,

The National Delphi, now discontinued, is a single cone biscuit bridge metal body resophonic guitar updating the Triolian model from the 1930’s. The slotted-peghead, 12-fret neck is Maple with an ivoroid bound Indian Rosewood fingerboard.

Like other metal body resophonic guitars, the National Delphi has an unmistakable tone and presence, full and bright but not harsh sounding and with plenty of projection. These were, after all, invented to provide enhanced volume in larger, louder venues in the days before electical amplification and when the primary stage competition was banjos.

Dating to June of 2006, this National Delphi is in good, original working and playing condition and sounds great. To enhance its usability, the original owner had a National Slimline passive humbucking pickup added in the neck position, with the output jack mounted to the treble side F-hole. Its body finish is Antique Brass and has developed some adhesion issues, but these are entirely visual and don’t affect playability or tone.

The original National hard shell case is included.
