The Twelfth Fret ~ Since 1977 ~

❌SOLD❌ National RM1 Walnut Resophonic Mandolin Sunburst, 2010

The National RM1 Walnut is built in San Luis Opisbo California and features a teardrop, almost ‘A Style’ body shape, but with a single 9.5 inch resonator cone. The RM1 Walnut pairs a figured Maple top with Black Walnut for the sides and carved back; the neck is figured Maple with a bound Ebony fingerboard. Because it’s a reso-phonic instrument, the bridge is built into the center of the resonator cone. A National tailpiece is used, and gold -plated Gotoh tuners with black buttons are at the head. The nut is bone.

At the time that this example was built for and sold by The Twelfth Fret, the National HotPlate pickup – resonator cover system wasn’t yet available. The owner had his own aged brass, electrified cover plate built, using a standard passive Lindy Fralin Split Blade pickup, which uses a single coil size but is hum cancelling. Standard volume and tone controls lead to an output jack on the side. This works very well!

This National RM1 is in good playing order with light wear. Fret wear is light to moderate. The walnut back and sides help provide a bit of warmth to the overall tone, and as a reso-phonic instrument, volume and projection are not a problem.

The original hard shell case is included.
