This lovely Suhr Modern Custom sports a Claro Walnut top on a Spanish Cedar body, paired with a Pau Ferro neck and Macassar Ebony fingerboard! Claro Walnut is also known as ‘California Black Walnut’. Spanish Cedar or ‘Cedro’ is very commonly used for classical guitar necks, and for bodies on Suhr guitars.
A quirk of the Suhr process is that the serial number is established at time of order, sometimes well before the instrument construction is begun, let alone finished. While these numbers are consecutive, that doesn’t always match the sequence pieces are completed so dating via serial number is tougher.
This Suhr Modern Custom was built during 2015 and starts with a familiar wood combination of a hard top with a softer back. Here, the top is a bookmatched Claro Walnut set on a 2-piece Spanish Cedar back with the body itself drawing from the classic S design. The bolt on neck is Pau Ferro with Macassar Ebony for the compound-radius fingerboard, equipped with Stainless Steel frets. The Chrome finished hardware includes Suhr locking tuners and a Gotoh 510 trem bridge.
This Suhr Modern Custom Claro Walnut is in great condition with very little wear of any kind. It also plays extremely well, and is resonant, responsive and well balanced. Overall this is a very beautiful piece!
The original hard shell case is included – a very nice rectangular black G&G case.
