❌SOLD❌ Tokai Love Rock HLS-70 Violin Finish, 2002

The Tokai Love Rock HLS-70 is a very good representation of a late 1950’s Les Paul Standard, with the H indicating it was a special run for Hibiki, the Japanese Tokai distributor.

Tokai has been building the Love Rock models since the 1980’s, originally in Japan but since the mid 1990’s in Korea and China. The HLS models were a higher end ‘Custom Shop’ version of the standard LS models. The H does not stand for ‘historic’ but for Hibikis who specified the grades of materials, finishes and their own ’59 pickups rather than the stock LS parts. These models were only available through Hibiki authorized dealers.

This Tokai Love Rock HLS-70 is in very good, clean condition with negligible wear. This example dates to 2002 and was built in Japan at Hamamatsu. There is a very small amount of jean rivet rash to the back finish, but virtually no fret wear. For materials, it features a Mahogany body with a bookmatched, flame Maple cap and Mahogany neck with bound Indian Rosewood fingerboard. It plays very well, and has a great look.

A black TKL hard shell case, possibly the original, is included and is in equally good condition.
