Gibson Explorer

Gibson introduced the Explorer in 1958, but it wasn’t exactly an unqualified success and was discontinued in 1959. Over time, guitarists came to appreciate its radical lines and the fact that it just sounds great and plays well.

Neck Mahogany neck with unbound rosewood fingerboard. Standard Gibson 24.75″ scale length. Pearl Gibson inlay and dot markers.
Frets 22 medium frets, and the deep cutaway allows full access to all of them.
Body Mahogany body in the classic Explorer shape.
Finish Gloss black lacquer.
Hardware/electronics Two humbucking pickups without covers, pickup selector, two volumes and one tone. Tune-a-matic bridge and stop tailpiece, Grover tuners in Chrome.
Playability/Action The Explorer is suprisingly comfortable to play, standing or seated. The geometry will allow any desired action setup.
Case Hard case included.
Comments This is a particularly nice guitar. It’s quite comfortable and really rings.
