If you are not yet familiar with Michael Schatte, there is no better introduction to the burgeoning Canadian guitarist, vocalist and songwriter than his latest E.P. of original music (entitled Four Songs, One Apocalypse, the album can be heard alongside his other releases at www.michaelschatte.com).

Recently touted by The Beat Magazine as “one of Canada’s best-kept secrets, and certainly one of its most skilled rock performers,” Michael weaves fine fretwork, intelligent lyricism and impassioned vocal delivery into a unique brand of genre-bending music that blends rock, blues, bluegrass, and celtic music in a highly original, guitar-heavy fashion.

A respected guitarist, Schatte has been compared to world-class players decades his senior. Counting Richard Thompson, Danny Gatton, Mark Knopfler and Albert Lee as major influences, listeners can find much to celebrate in his electric guitar work and acoustic finger style playing.

Earlier this year, Michael was described in Numero Cinq magazine as “…incomparable… a dream of a guitar player, a dashing performer, but also a thoughtful and self-conscious artist.”

Michael will bring his artistry to the Twelfth Fret for an in-store clinic/performance on Monday, September 8th, 2014.

The focus of the session will be Michael’s work on the National Steel guitar, including slide playing, alternate tunings, gear choices, finger style approaches, and the hybrid picking that characterizes much of his guitar work. Michael will also showcase material to be released on his forthcoming album later this year.
