It’s always a pleasure to play guitars like this 1961 Gibson J-45 adjustable bridge. The body design and neck shape are very comfortable, and they produce an envelopingly warm, rich tone, especially if they’ve been part of a lot of playing over the decades, as this one has.

The Avalon Legacy A10c is a cutaway jumbo guitar resembling earlier Lowden guitars but with an Auditorium body (hence the A designation). Tonally, it’s well balanced with good volume. Physically, it is in good condition with a few small dings.

MORE →Recently we were visited by Rost’a Capek and his wife, who live and work in Prauge, Czech Republic. Capek has been building instruments – primarily banjos and mandolin family members – for bluegrass and jazz players for over 26 years. We’ve just taken delivery of a Capek F5 Basic Mandolin model, and it is impressive. The build quality is very high and the instrument sounds great.
MORE →The LG-1 was introduced in 1942, along with the LG-2 and LG-3. However, the demands of World War 2 almost immediately stopped the production of the LG-1 and LG-3, and they were re-introduced in 1945. In its first release, the LG-1 had a brown top finish, but received a sunburst finish after the war. Production ended in 1974.
