Here's something rare and wonderful - from 1957, a Magnatone Mark IV guitar, based on designs by Paul Bigsby and built by one of the top amplifier companies of the day. Magnatone amplifiers, and their unique vibrato circuit, were highly valued at the time and are still sought after.

Though it looks like a solidbody guitar, the Magnatone Mark IV is a double-cutaway, semi-hollow design. The top, back and sides are separate pieces. The hardware is straighforward, at least to current standards - two single coil pickups, master volume and tone controls, and a three-way selector switch. The Kluson tuners and aluminum nut are original. As a Mark IV, it has a trapeze tailpiece; the Mark V had a Bigsby True Vibrato tailpiece. These models were produced between 1955 and 1960.

This Magnatone Mark IV example dates to 1957, and is in overall good condition. There is some finish damage to the bass side near the tailblock and some finish wear around the edge of the back. Fretwear is very light and the rosewood fingerboard is not very worn at all.

The original hardshell case is included. The leather case handle has been replaced.
