The Martin 00-18G was built between 1936 and 1962 as a nylon or gut string guitar, but it was never a traditional classical instrument and fit more into folk styles.

Built with an 00 size body and '18' level trim, meaning with a spruce top and mahogany back, sides and neck, with indian rosewood headplate, fingerboard and bridge, the 00-18G is specifically built (and stamped on the center strip!) for nylon or gut strings. It has traditional fan bracing, while steel string models use an X-brace system. Like a traditional classical guitar, the fingerboard is flat.

However, despite its construction, the neck has a definite V profile and could never satisfy a strict classical guitarist. Rather, these fit perfectly into folk styles where strumming and fingerpicking are combined.

This is an excellent instrument in very good condition. It has a wonderfully warm, open sound and is as responsive to technique as classical guitars are. It's very nice to play - the body size is very comfortable, the action is good, and the sound is inviting.

The original hardshell case is included.
