S/N: 42526, dates to 1959 and Fullerton, California.
In the late 1950's, Fender sought to widen their market appeal to 'serious' guitarists, and the Fender Jazzmaster and later the Jaguar were the result.
Introduced in 1958, the Fender Jazzmaster has a number of unique features. The most immediately visible is the offset-waist body, designed for seated jazz players. The electronics provided a preset for rhythm playing, and the large, flat coil pickups give a warm, full tone. The Jazzmaster was the first Fender guitar to carry a rosewood fingerboard, and this became a standard feature in 1959.
This guitar dates to around 1959. It was completely refinished by Mike Spicer, and the refinish was extremely well done. The headstock decal has likely been replaced. There is expected fingerboard wear and light fretwear.
Overall, this Fender Jazzmaster plays very well and has that late-1950's sound. The original tweed case is included.
