The late 1950s and early 1960s saw an explosion of new electric guitar designs, including the National Westwood 72 Map Guitar, resembling the outline of the USA.

The National Westwood 72 was the lower end of the Westwood range, with the 77 and 75 as higher models with an extra pickup. The Westwood 72 has two pickups - the traditional magnetic pickup at the neck, plus a piezo pickup under the bridge. With the original wiring, it's not possible to have both pickups on at once.

Many of these models were built using 'Res-O-Glass' - basically fiberglass resin. Unfortunately, that material is not optimal tonally, and so production included traditional wooden bodies, as is the case with this instrument.

This 1962 National Westwood 62 is in good playing condition and is largely original. A non original, rectangular hardshell case is included.
