Here's something pretty rare - a Microfrets Signature electric, built between 1967 and 1969 in Frederick, Maryland. Between 1967 and 1975, Microfrets built around 3,000 instruments with unique and very advanced features.

Because there are few records for Microfrets serial numbers, it's difficult to date this instrument, but the numbers started at 1000, and this one is stamped 1278.

Microfrets had several patents, and the most notable were for a fully adjustable metal nut. There's a section for each string, with adjustments for height and compensation - distance from the first fret. These patents held the concepts used by Buzz Feiten and Earvana for fine-tuning intonation.

Several models, including the Signature, used a two-piece chambered body, so they are very light and resonant. The neck is maple, with a rosewood fingerboard .

Sales were good and the guitars were used by players like Carl Perkins and Mark Farner of Grand Funk Railroad, but Microfrets closed following the death of its founder, Ralph Jones.

This Microfrets Signature is in good working order, with some dents and scratches and light fretwear. The electronics have been recently serviced. A rectangular hardshell case is included.
