1969 Edgar Monch Classical Guitar (SOLD)

Class: Vintage
Consignment
SOLD
S/N: 1969/95, built during 1969 at Edgar Monch's shopin Toronto, Canada.
Here is a rarity - a 1969 Edgar Mönch Classical guitar, built in Toronto, Canada. It is a Concert grade classical guitar with a Sitka top and Indian Rosewood back and sides.

This lovely Edgar Mönch classical guitar is a true survivor, and was recently discovered in a Montreal attic where it has languished for the past 40 years. Considering that it was entirely neglected all of those years, it is in remarkably good condition.

Technically, this guitar features a 650mm scale length, 51mm nut width, and action currently extra low at 6.5/64 treble to 7.5/64 bass. We can easily raise action for the buyer if he/she has an aggressive right hand attack.

This Edgar Monch classical guitar arrived in our shop with several dryness cracks, which were glued and repaired by Master Luthier Gordon Barry in our workshop. The guitar now plays beautifully and has that famous Hauser style of clarity and string balance.

In addition, we have performed a slight but remarkably helpful modification to the bridge - instead of six string holes on the tie block, there are 12. This allows for a better break-over angle from the saddle, and makes restringing easier.

This is an opportunity to acquire a Mönch built at the peak of his career at a very reasonable price.

A new standard Everest hardshell case is included.
