The Fender 'Mandocaster' mandolin was built from 1956 to 1976, but it's rare to see them. This example from January 1972 is in good playing condition, with light to moderate finish wear and moderate fret wear.

Acoustic mandolins have always been susceptible to feedback at amplified stage volumes, and add-on pickups were rare, so it made a lot of sense for Fender to add an electric version to their lineup. Influenced by the offset-waist Stratocaster design, the Fender Mandolin was rapidly nicknamed the 'Mandocaster' by collectors.

This instument is in original condition, with only the bridge cover missing. A black hardshell case is included.
