Production of the Guild Starfire IV ran from 1963 to 1987, and then from 1991 to 2005. To 1968, these were built in Hoboken, NJ, and then until 2001 in Westerly, Rhode Island, and from 2001 to 2005 at the Fender facility in Corona, California. This guitar was built in Westerly, Rhode Island, around 2000; the serial number records for Westerly only seem to go to 1999 and are just shy of this one.
This example of the late Westerly Guild Starfire IV production is in excellent, original and complete condition. Carrying a natural finish, it's built with nicely figured maple laminate for the stop, back and sides, mahogany for the neck, and rosewood for the fingerboard. The hardware is chrome, with a stop tailpiece instead of the traditional Guild harp trapeze. There is very little fretwear, or any other kind of wear. A hardshell case is included.
