On the MTV appearance, Eric Clapton played a 1966 000-28 (and a 1939 000-42). The 000 design has a slightly shorter scale, making it a bit easier to play for blues-based styles. The '28' model features East Indian rosewood back and sides, Sitka Spruce top, mahogany for the neck and dovetail blocks, and ebony for the fingerboard and bridge.
This example of the Martin 000-28EC Left Handed is number 1710, serial number 617500, and dates to 2001. An L R Baggs I-beam pickup is factory installed to an endpin jack, with the 9v battery mounted to the back near the neck block. It's in very good condition with minimal fret wear and includes the original hardshell case.
