Fabrizio Alberico currently builds custom guitars on spectacular Vancouver Island in British Columbia. However, his path included an apprenticeship with Sergei de Jonge who now builds in Chelsea, Quebec. At the time of Alberico's apprenticeship, however, de Jonge was building near Oshawa, Ontario.

This very fine Fabrizio Alberico Cocobolo Cutaway Steel String guitar was created in Caledon, Ontario in 2003. It's in excellent condition with very light play wear on the top; the fret wear is so light that a simple polish would make it invisible. The lacquer finish is gloss for the body, lightly applied satin on the neck and is in good shape.

Tonally, it doesn't sound completly played in but is very articulate and clean, with a crisp, rich sound, full and well balanced without overbearing bass or mids. As good as it sounds now, it will improve with playing.

Built using Cocobolo for the back, sides and headplates, this instrument also uses Sitka spruce for the top, ebony for the fingerboard and bridge and mahogany for the neck. The nut and saddle are bone. To round out the hardware, gold Waverly tuners and a K&K pickup are installed. A black arched-top hard shell case is included.

The approximate current new value of this model, custom ordered from Fabrizio Alberico, would be above $9393.80 Canadian dollars or $7750 US dollars (using a recent exchange rate of 1.21%).
