Comments | Here’s a very cool 1958 Supro Dual Tone!
Supro was in the budget strata of the National / Valco range of instruments, and the Dual Tone shows many of the characteristics of the era. Build components varied widely depending on what was available; many Dual Tones have mahogany necks with rosewood fingerboards, this one has a maple neck with apparently an ebony board. The Dual Tone was introduced in 1954 and built until 1966. Along the way, a number of prominent players have used them – Link Wray, David Bowie, Jack White, and so on. This example is in excellent original condition though it could use some attention to the frets but it sounds great! |
