2009 Gretsch Chet Atkins G6121 Roundup (consignment) SOLD

Comments Originally introduced in 1954, the Gretsch Chet Atkins G6121 Roundup exemplifies the country and western aesthetic, or at least Fred Gretsch’s concept of it. The orange finish, the G-brand on the top, tooled leather trim on the sides, the steer and cactus engraving on the inlays, and the twang – it’s all there.

The Roundup is based on the Gretsch ‘Jet’ body, using a chambered back with an arched top; this adds resonance without also adding feedback, and also removes weight.

This 2009 Gretsch Chet Atkins G6121 Roundup is as new; it’s never really been played at all. The aluminum Bigsby bridge adds quite a bit of brightness to the twang.

Serial Number JT09020473; this breaks down as built in Japan (J), at the Terada plant (T), during 2009 (09), and February (02) and is the 473rd guitar built during that month (0473).
