Epiphone Broadway Masterbilt, 1932 (Consignment) SOLD



Comments Epiphone began producing the Masterbilt series and the Broadway in 1931, featuring more elaborate decoration and the asymmetrical peghead seen here.
This very early Epiphone Broadway model, from 1932, is in great playing condition and is structurally sound.

Neck Maple neck with bound ebony fingerboard, mother of pearl 4-point star shape position markers. Models like this do not have adjustable truss rods. For stability, the neck is constructed of two outer sections with an inner sandwich of thin walnut layers on a maple strip. 25.5″ scale length.

Frets Moderate wear.
Body Non-cutaway shape with 16 3/4″ body width at lower bout. Carved Curly maple back, walnut sides, carved Adirondack spruce top with longitudinal brace on the bass side. Segmented F-holes, and some top crack repairs.
Finish Sunburst nitrocellulose lacquer finish. There appears to be some history of professionally – done touchup and finish repair on the top, done decades ago. Lots of natural play wear on the neck, and over the last eight decades it’s collected a few dings and marks.
Hardware/electronics Original nickel plated tuners with oval buttons, original nickel plated tailpiece. Adjustable ‘floating’ rosewood bridge, bone nut. Pickguard not included.
Playability/Action Plays well and cleanly with the action currently set to around 7/64″ bass, 6/64″ treble.
Case Newer hardshell case included.
