Gibson F-5 Mandolin 1951(Consignment) SOLD

Serial Number:… A-7903 circa 1951

Description:… Here is an F-5 that has all of the features to suggest a 1949 model and only the label indicates 1951. Regardless if it is 49 or a 51 this sure is one special mandolin. It is in excellent shape for its age with a bit of lacquer checking which really only adds to the overall vibe. The tuners have  been replaced but everything else is all original. It has a beautiful chop and bark with sweet bell like trebles and lots of volume as you dig in. Wow!!
Neck:… Mahogany neck, ebony fretboard with extension, block inlays, triple bound fingerboard  with black line on the side, bound peghead with flower pot inlay and standard post war Gibson logo, finish wear on the back of the neck, soft V neck profile.
Frets:… Minor wear
Body:… Spruce top, maple sides and back
Finish:… Tobacco burst finish with medium lacquer checking and some minor play wear marks.
Hardware/electronics:… Non original tuners.
Playability/Action:… Great playability with current action at 5/64″ bass side and 4/64″ treble side.
Case:… Original hardshell case
