Gibson F5 Mandolin 1974 (consignment) SOLD

Serial Number 398154, built in 1974 in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Pricing $1999 CND with case.
Neck V-profile Maple neck with bound ebony board; script Gibson logo and flowerpot mother of pearl inlay on headstock.
Frets 30 frets! Take that, Yngwie! Some fret wear in lower positions.
Body Curly maple back and sides, carved spruce top.
Finish Original, yellowed lacquer tobacco sunburst finish.
Hardware/electronics A Weber Brekke ebony bridge has been added. This adjustable bridge uses no metal in the vertical saddle supports; there are two setscrews for side-to-side placement but it’s all wood in the direction of energy transfer. There is some wear on the tailpiece cover plating. Original gold-plagted tuners with pearloid buttons.
Playability/Action This mandolin plays very well and cleanly, and there’s lots of adjustment.

Comments The F5 mandolin has been produced since the early 20th century and has been a popular instrument for many playing styles. This example is in great shape and has a wonderful patina that only age and use can bestow.
