The Martin M-36 uses the fairly new ‘M Body’ design, which using Martin’s ‘O’ sizing is an OOOO, or quadruple O size. Outside of the D Dreadnought and J Jumbo models, this is the largest body Martin uses and it provides a full, even tone with lots of volume.
C.F. Martin
The Martin D-18 has been an iconic, workhorse guitar for decades, used by countless musicians of all skill levels. Its pairing of Spruce and Mahogany for the dreadnought body provide snap, sparkle and definition to a powerful tone. Introduced in 1931 with a 12 fret neck that was extended to 14 frets in 1934, the D-18 has been in constant production.
Here we have a 1971 vintage Martin D-18. It has definitely been used as intended and over the decades, it has experienced the usual wear and stresses. The finish is nicely checked and has the lovely patina

MORE →In terms of provenance, this guitar has had three owners and was used in a popular band during the 1950s. It has had an amount of work over the decades, some of it significant. One side appears to have been replaced, and the top has had a section replaced. This work was done very cleanly and may have been performed by Martin at their factory, though they have no record of it. Recently, in our shop, it has been refretted, had the first-position mother of pearl snowflake marker replaced, and received a full set up. It plays very well, and has a full, rich, even tone. The tonal nature of Brazilian Rosewood (denser than Indian) is evident in an slight added clarity.

MORE →The C F Martin 000-18 is one of the classic American guitars, used by countless players since its introduction in 1908, 110 years ago. The design has undergone many changes but the 000-18 remains a very versatile instrument. The well-worn example seen here dates to 1956 and was built at the C F Martin facility in Nazareth, Pennsylvania. It’s built with a spruce top, mahogany for the sides, back, and neck, with rosewood for the fingerboard, bridge and headplate.

MORE →The C. F. Martin OM-45 Marquis is a top of the line instrument, built like the Golden Era line but with Indian instead of Brazilian Rosewood. It would be the crown jewel in anyone’s guitar collection! The top and its vintage-scalloped bracing are Adirondack Spruce. The nut and saddle are definitely special, made of fossilized Ivory. This is a 45 style guitar, so it uses an abalone shell liner for the perimeter and soundhole, Snowflake fingerboard inlay set and Martin headstock logo. The neck is mahogany with a bound ebony fingerboard. And, there’s a K & K pickup installed!
