Trinity College mandolins are designed for traditional Celtic music, though they are used in a wide variety of other styles, too. The traditionally styled body of the TM-325 Octave Mandolin is complimented by an elegant snakehead peghead with the new Celtic-inspired cross. Its rich, mellow tone and great projection will surprise you!

The Gibson TG-0 tenor guitar was built during two periods and two forms, but was always a relatively simple Mahogany top 4-string acoustic. The first TG-0 was based on the L-0 from 1927 to 1933, and the second based on the LG-0 from 1960 to 1974. Here we’re looking at a second series Gibson TG-0 dating to 1963 at the Kalamazoo plant, and draws directly from the LG-0 model. These guitars use Mahogany for the top, back sides with Spruce bracing, and Mahogany for the neck but a Rosewood fingerboard.

MORE →The Deering Banjo Company is now offering the Deering Sierra Maple 5-String Banjo – their most popular Sierra model banjo in maple! Deering has become one of the largest and most respected American banjo manufacturers and we’re very happy to see these models.
This excellent Deering Sierra banjo dates to December of 2010 and was built at the Deering shop in Spring Garden, California, with capo tacks installed at frets 7, 9 and 10. The Deering Sierra Maple banjo carries a satin finish, and in this case it’s quite clean with no dents or scratches. The metal hardware is nickel plated, and unlike chrome this develops a light patina over time; the plating itself does not show any significant wear. Fret wear is light.

MORE →The Irish Tenor banjo is specially adapted to Irish and other Celtic music styles, pitched low to co-exist with the Bodhran, pipes and fiddles. The Gold Tone IT-250 Irish Tenor model offers a quality instrument at a reasonable price. The seventeen-fret IT-250’s short scale neck uses heavier strings and is tuned to GDAE, an octave below the mandolin. This setup is in wide use by many traditional Irish musicians because it provides the plunky tone that works so well with the bodhran, pipes and fiddles found in Celtic music ensembles.

MORE →The Ludwig Ambassador tenor banjo is an example of a business recognizing opportunity. The Ludwig Drum Company started in 1909 and by the early 1920’s realized that banjos are closely related to drums, and offered a range of models. However, by the early 1930’s as banjos started to wane, Ludwig moved back to its core business – and is still a respected name in drum manufacturing.
