A pearlescent pickguard sets off the finish very nicely. As a bonus, the back has a Strat-style comfort contour.

The Hofner Violin Bass first appeared in public during 1956, and Hofner’s intent was to encourage double bass players in beat and jazz groups to shift to electric. In many ways, this intention was similar to Leo Fender’s in introducing the Precision Bass in 1951. The benefits were immediately apparent and these new electric basses started appearing on stages, especially in early rock groups.
