The Beard Legacy R RoundNeck features a small Mahogany body and neck with Ebony fingerboard, with a single-cone spider-type resonator set. This example dates to 2008 at Hagerstown, Maryland and includes a factory-installed pickup, custom built by Beard with Jerry Douglas and Larry Fishman.

The Beard R Model Squareneck resophonic guitar is built in the USA to evoke the classic single cone resonator guitars of the 1930s. Paul Beard builds many of the best resophonic guitars available, and works closely with top artists like Jerry Douglas and Mike Auldridge.
The Beard Road-O-Phonic lap steel first appeared around 2006 and is designed and built in Hagerstown, Maryland at Paul Beard’s shop. The Road-O-Phonic has evolved over several versions and the second version seen here features a Maple body and neck with Flame Maple veneer for the top and back; the fingerboard is Ebony with a 23 inch scale length. The current version 3 uses a 25 inch scale length.

MORE →Here’s a treat – a new Paul Beard Deco Phonic Sidecar acoustic, hearkening back to the classic models of the 1930s heard on many blues ragtime and country recordings. The Beard Deco Phonic Sidecar is built on the standard Beard R body, with an Engelmann Spruce top, Finnish Birch Laminate back and sides, Mahogany neck and Morado bridge and fingerboard. Morado is a non-CITES listed substitute for Brazilian Rosewood, sometimes known as Pau Ferro.
This Beard R Model Squareneck was built during 2013 at the Beard shop in scenic Hagerstown, Maryland, is in very good condition and has the Fishman Nashville ‘Jerry Douglas’ pickup installed. This one is ready to go, onstage or on tour! This model features solid Mahogany for the neck and open-soundwell body, and the binding is Curly Maple. The fingerboard is Ebony, with Mother of Pearl for the position markers; the bridge is Maple with an Ebony cap and that covers the woods used.
