The Rickenbacker 4003 Bass is one of the most distinctive instruments. For some people, it evokes Chris Squire, for others McCartney, and for others…. Lemmy. Designed in the mid 1950’s by Roger Rossmeisl as a counterpoint to the highly successful Fender bass, the 4003 uses a ‘Cresting Wave’ body shape.

The Melancon Pro Artist T is built by Gerard Melancon, who works out of Thibodaux, Louisiana and combines the elements of a Tele and a Strat, ‘Like a 57 Chevy with power steering and power brakes!’ Melancon grew up with lots of great Cajun and country music both in his family and in the surrounding area, gigged with a number of rock bands and played sessions before gradually shifting to guitar building. He now builds many custom, high quality electric guitars with excellent finishes.

Taylor 615 Jumbo Maple Steel String Guitar Natural, 1995

The Taylor 615 jumbo Maple steel string guitar is unabashedly visually related to the most venerable of the Jumbo body acoustics, the Gibson J-200, from the oversize curves to the flame maple back and sides. In the form seen here, with no cutaway, the 615 was built from 1981 to 1998. At that point, it gained a cutaway and pickup and became the 615ce and was finally discontinued in 2011.

This Yair Stern Octave Mandola is a new instrument, and is well made with quality materials. The tone is warm yet bright and snappy, well balanced with good clarity and separation. It is very comfortable to play and its light hand applied finish provides some protection but does not restrict the wood’s vibration. The tailpiece is a cast, gold plated AShton Bailey unit. The tuners are also chrome plated, with faux pearl buttons.
