❌SOLD❌ Rickenbacker 620 MapleGlo, 2012

Here we have a very clean, great condition Rickenbacker 620 in MapleGlo finish (gloss natural), dated to late March of 2012 in Santa Ana, California. The Rickenbacker 620 was introduced in 1974 and its roots draw from the very late 1950’s model 450, a solidbody featuring the Cresting Wave body shape designed by Roger Rossmeisl. Construction of the Rickenbacker 620 is simple, with a through-neck design using Maple for the two-piece neck and body wings, and Indian Rosewood for the bound fingerboard.

❌SOLD❌ Alembic Spoiler Bass 4-String Natural, 1983

❌SOLD❌ Alembic Spoiler Bass 4-String Natural, 1983

Here is a rarity – an Alembic Spoiler 4-string bass, built during 1983 in Santa Rosa, California, with Maple neck-through construction, low-impedance pickups and active circuitry. Alembic, founded in early 1969 as an audio consulting firm – the Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane were key early clients – introduced the use of active electronics and low-impedance pickups in musical instruments. Alembic guitars and basses, being fully hand-made of top quality materials and with parts like the pickups, brass nuts, bridges and tailpieces being built in-house, tended to be expensive and so were used primarily by top touring and recording artists.

❌SOLD❌ Gibson Firebird Cherry, 2019 NOS

Built at the Gibson Nashville plant, the new Gibson Firebird closely – but not entirely – follows the original construction concepts of the first Firebirds. Most importantly, this is a neck-through design, with the neck and the body built up of a total of five pieces of Mahogany over their length, and four Walnut strips bracketing the center sections. This multi-piece construction is used to provide extra stability over the long section.

❌SOLD❌ Ibanez Musician MC500 Solidbody Dark Stain, 1979

❌SOLD❌ Ibanez Musician MC500 Solidbody Dark Stain, 1979

The Ibanez Musician MC500 appeared as Ibanez hit its stride and moved away from straight copies of US models, and was built from late 1977 as a 1978 model to 1980. The Musician series used a multi-piece, neck-through design and active electronics, all quite possibly influenced by the Alembic instruments of the day. Overall, the goal was to provide maximum sustain, stability and tonal versatility in a professional grade package.

❌SOLD❌ Yamaha SG2000 Solidbody Sunburst, 1982

❌SOLD❌ Yamaha SG2000 Solidbody Sunburst, 1982

Introduced in 1976, the Yamaha SG2000 was considered perhaps the finest solidbody guitar from Japan – perhaps from anywhere – for its time. This design was the result of a collaboration between Yamaha and Carlos Santana to improve the Yamaha SG175. The result became the flagship of the Yamaha electric line until 1988. Around 1983, Gibson gave legal notice to Yamaha over the use of the ‘SG’ term, and Yamaha responded by changing the name for US models to SBG for Solid Body Guitar. However, in Japan, the SG name stayed until 1988 when the model was discontinued.
