Sold!! Louis Panormo Guitar, “Maker’s Number 1890”, London 1841

Sold!! Louis Panormo Guitar, "Maker's Number 1890", London 1841

This is one of our all-time favourites – a Louis Panormo guitar from 1841 with original, period-style coffin case and in fully playable condition! Louis Panormo was born in 1784, one of four sons of violin-maker, Vicenzo Panormo (1734-1813) who emigrated to England from Sicily. Vincenzo’s father was an apprentice of the Maestro himself: Antonio Stradivari. Louis became the most famous and respected of the Panormos, though all four brothers and nephews built guitars and violins for several decades, while others became respected musicians.

The Eastman AR803ce archtop falls in the category of the ‘Jazz Box’ guitar – providing the warm, rich, rounded tone an arched top guitar provides so well. Eastman is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of hand made, carved top instruments, with a background in violin and cello family construction. They pride themselves on following European luthiery traditions, particularly those flowing from 17th century German builders. JC Dorval B Bender T Style Guitar, 2000 (No Longer Available)

JC Dorval B Bender T Style Guitar, 2000 (No Longer Available)

This JC Dorval B Bender T Style guitar was built in 2000 in Quebec, Canada and features a Parsons-White B Bender with the Long Stroke option! We don’t have much information about the builder of this JC Dorval B Bender Tele-style guitar, but it would have been shipped to Gene Parsons for installation of the B-Bender mechanism – the installation is somewhat complex. The body appears to use an Ash core, with Zebrawood for the top and back. The neck is Maple, five pieces lengthwise plus a separate Maple fingerboard, allowing the truss rod to be mounted from the ‘front’ of the neck.

Gibson Les Paul Standard Cherry Sunburst, 1980

Gibson Les Paul Standard Cherry Sunburst, 1980

Here’s a Gibson Les Paul Standard Cherry Sunburst dating to October 17, 1980, sporting a Cherry Sunburst finish and a non-weight relieved, non-pancake body! The Les Paul model was introduced in 1952 as Gibson’s entry into the then-new soldibody ‘Spanish’ electric guitar field, where ‘Spanish’ refers to the way the guitar is held. Solidbody Hawaiian models had been available for some time, and Gibson had been producing electrified archtop guitars since the 1936 ES-150.
