The Godin 5th Ave Uptown GT, now discontinued, was one of the many forms the 5th Ave Uptown has taken since its launch in 2008. Here it is equipped with a pair of Duncan humbuckers a licensed Bigsby B30 tailpiece and a ‘pinned’ floating bridge. Archtop F-hole guitars were very popular from the 1930s into the 1950s, until advances in amplification allowed stage volumes to dramatically rise. Gibson’s groundbreaking ES-335 thinline was the first successful blending of the archtop tone with the feedback resistance of solidbody models.

The Godin Acousticaster is the natural progression of an original idea from Chet Atkins, who needed an acoustic guitar that wouldn’t feed back at stage volumes. The first models were the Gibson Chet Atkins Cutaway Electric Classical, which used a heavy, chambered mahogany body with spruce top and a six-element piezo bridge pickup.

❌SOLD❌ Godin A5 Fretless 5-String Bass Natural 2006

The Godin fretless 5-string Bass body is made of two pieces of silver leaf maple, chambered and capped with spruce. The neck bolts on, and uses rock maple plus an ebony fingerboard on the fretless version. The Fretted version gets a rosewood fingerboard. The bridge matches the fingerboard, and on this older example uses an acoustic-guitar style pin bridge. Godin is very well acquainted with using piezo pickups and have devised a very usable and unobtrusive control layout next to the fingerboard. Access to the battery for the preamp is on the back.
