❌SOLD❌ C. F. Martin 00018 Steel String Guitar, 2017

❌SOLD❌ C. F. Martin 00018 Steel String Guitar, 2017

The very first C. F. Martin 00018 steel string guitar appeared in 1906 with a Maple body, then with Rosewood until 1917, and finally built using Mahogany for the body in small numbers until 1926, when 224 were sold. Annual production stayed in the mid-hundreds until 1972, when 650 were built. It has been in production since, with the exception of 1932 and 1933, when none were built. The C. F. Martin 00018 string guitar is closely related to the OM or Orchestra Model, introduced in 1930.

❌SOLD❌ G W Barry M Body Cutaway Indian Rosewood, 1995

❌SOLD❌ G W Barry M Body Cutaway Indian Rosewood, 1995

The G W Barry M Body guitar is a very successful and versatile design based on the classic OM introduced by Martin, with a long scale neck on a 000 sized body. G W Barry has been building for decades starting with years for Jean Larrivee, and his skill at not only building but also voicing is evident in this 23-year old M body cutaway model. This particular guitar was recently rebuilt by Barry, with work including a neck reset with fret dress and a neck-off refinish of the top that included a repair to a top crack.

Martin 00 16E Granadillo Steel String Guitar

Martin 00 16E Granadillo Steel String Guitar

The new Martin 00 16E model starts from the classic 00, or Grand Concert body size, but in place of Mahogany or Indian Rosewood for the back and sides uses Granadillo. Granadillo is also known as Mexican Rosewood or Platymiscium Yucatanum. In Central and South America, it’s often used under the name Macacauba for musical instruments. Its density and hardness help it deliver a bit more top end than true Rosewoods, but still has bottom end and warmth.

Martin HD28 D-14 Fret Guitar, 2020

Martin HD28 D-14 Fret Guitar, 2020

Hopefully this is an indicator of better things – a brand new Martin HD28, delivered to us this week, one of the first shipments from the builder since the shutdown. The Martin HD28, using the 14 fret D body and pairing a Sitka Spruce top with Indian Rosewood sides and back, is one of the benchmark American guitars. As the D-28 it’s been in production since 1931, and the D28H indicates that it has Herringbone pattern purfling around the top.
