The term ‘Closet Classic’ could be applied to this striking Aztec Gold Fender Special Edition Stratocaster, Made in Mexico during 2003. This guitar appears to have been never played and there is no play wear at all. The original protective plastic film is still on PG and backplate! Some of the red-gold colouring on the metal components has light tarnish and that’s it. Aside from that, this guitar is as-new.

Here’s something we see fewer of – a Fender Pre-CBS Stratocaster in Sunburst, with a body date of 9/63 and neck date of March 1964. This type of ‘date mismatch’ has been common in some periods of Fender production. The factory would build and finish a larger number of bodies and store them, with the necks built closer to the sale and delivery date. The potentiometers date to 1963.

Built from 2010 to 2018, the Fender American Special Strat HSS bridged the gap between the Custom Shop and American Standard models, and the Standard and Squiers. This Fender American Special Strat HSS example dates to 2013 at Corona, California as part of the 60th Anniversary of the Stratocaster (1954 – 2014). It sports a gloss Black finish, black pickguard and pickup covers, and Rosewood fingerboard with larger fretwire.

When putting together what became the Telecaster as an instrument to be manufactured, he realized that the neck joints (usually dovetails or tenons) found on virtually all guitars required significant effort and cost to create, assemble and service.

In particular, the trem system components are selected and adjusted to allow the smoothest string movement and best return to pitch, without going to a full double locking trem system. Here we’re looking at a Fender Jeff Beck Stratocaster in very good, clean condition, built during 2016 in Corona California and sporting a Surf Green finish.
