Today we are featuring a beautiful Custom Small Jumbo from Bourgeois. I saw a guitar with this custom package at the Bourgeois booth at the NAMM show in January and fell in love right away. I already think this body shape is one of the coolest guitars that they build and the combination of German spruce, Madagascar rosewood and Koa binding had me drooling with anticipation!

The D-35 has been a key part of the Martin line since 1965. The early models used Brazilian rosewood, but export and import restrictions moved Martin towards Indian rosewood. Now, Madagascar rosewood is available and has many of the tonal and aesthetic characteristics of Brazilian – a little more brilliance than Indian.

Inspired by great flat top guitars from the Golden Era of guitar making such as the Gibson J-45, it features an Adirondack spruce top which provides plenty of punch and crisp note fundamentals to complement the warm and sweet midrange of the mahogany back and sides.
