The Twelfth Fret ~ Since 1977 ~

❌SOLD❌ BC Rich Bich Supreme Maple Natural, 1995

Instrument Categories: , , ,

Designed by Neal Moser while Bernardo Rico was out of the country, the BC Rich Bich first appeared in the 1976 catalog as a 10-string model. Like most other BC Rich models of the time, the Bich used a neck-through design with ‘wings’ added to provide the body shape for the center neck-body section.

The BC Rich Bich Supreme seen here is in great condition with very little wear. The materials used are top grade, with highly figured quilted Maple for the outer body sections and as a cap for the less-figured center Neck section. The bound fingerboard is Ebony with Abalone ‘cloud’ position markers, and the head plate and body separators are Indian Rosewood.

For hardware, tuners are Grover Imperials with deco-step tuners, and the Rich-specific Quad bridge is used. That bridge was influenced by the original Leo Quann ‘Badass’ bridge, developed to address intonation issues with stop-bar-bridge Gibson guitars.

For electronics, a pair of DiMarzio Super Distortions feed through relatively complex and versatile circuitry designed by Neal Moser and used on several models, but which does not appear in the BC Rich catalogs before 1976. Earlier models, including the original 1970’s builds, used simpler circuits. There are two small circuit boards, likely one for the two (!) boosts and one for the Varitone, and they are powered by a pair of standard 9v batteries.

This example has a serial number of 95078 stamped between the last two frets. This is supposed to indicate a 1995 model, but at times production exceeded the number of available numbers so the year codes are not always reliable. However, this model with this wiring configuration appears first in the 1996 catalog; the 1996 catalog shows the Bich Supreme with simplified wiring. We’re calling this BC Rich Bich Supreme a 1995 model based on its serial and the 1996 catalog, which would have been printed in 1995.

Sold with what is likely its original hard shell case.
